The dead shall rock the earth

This week in Rock Band, Ministry bring us a three-pack of songs, and The Cranberries deliver their biggest hit, Zombie. At least, that's what I thought at first glance. A closer look reveals that The Cranberries' song is actually Linger (groan!), but it's joined by two tracks from The Zombies! Unfortunately, nothing from Odyssey and Oracle, but that's okay, I'll take just about any 60's stuff released at this point.
Here's what's on offer:

By Ministry
Cuz U R Next
LiesLiesLies
The Great Satan

The Cranberries - Linger
The Zombies - She's Not There
The Zombies - Tell Her No
Note: Click on any song for expert drum videos.

Okay, so I don't know who the hell Ministry are, and I'd rather quit rhythm gaming altogether than have to sit through The Cranberries' dreadful Linger, but as for The Zombies, well, how could I refuse?

The first song is Tell Her No, which fits into drum tier 3. This track has a fairly standard rock beat, not unlike Bowie's Suffragette City. There's not a lot of variety, although there's a short but interesting middle section. After this, we go back to the standard beat, but with some additional kick drum thrown in there. Not bad, but not great.

She's Not There also fits into tier 3 (Wow, I've bought loads of songs from that tier!). This track has a fairly easy, but at least original, verse. The chorus ushers in another standard beat and there are some fills for variety. I'm not really sure what else to say. It's fun, but just doesn't have anything that stands out against DLC I already owned.

So despite my less-than-enthusiastic write-up, I did enjoy both of these tracks, but they're just a little too similar to a bunch of other stuff, so I can't recommend them to veterans. However, if you're new to the game, or a big fan of The Zombies, by all means pick them up. Besides, She's Not There is a classic, so it's worth having just for that reason.

In other news, French site, Jeux Video just leaked the very first trailer for Lego Rock Band. It actually looks a lot like regular Rock Band, only with plastic people and crappy music. Unfortunately, we don't get to see any of the gameplay, but I'm sure we can all imagine how it's going to work. It's also the first time a Lego character has spoken English in one of the games (as far as I know), so this adds a little comedy element to it. Check it out:
