All this talk of Guitar Hero: World Tour recently has taken people's attention away from the original home console band game. Well, get ready to shift your focus back again because Rock Band 2 has now been officially announced.
It really sounds pretty much as I expected, with all DLC purchased in the first game being fully compatible with the sequel. It also sounds as though there will be no major changes in the instruments, so re-purchase of the entire set won't be necessary. However, for those who do wish to buy the whole kit, it will ship with "quieter, more realistic, and more reliable instruments". It's the "more reliable" part that interests me; I know I'm not the only one who's had problems with my peripherals, and getting some better manufactured ones that don't break would be a godsend.
There isn't any info in track listing yet, but in an interview with IGN, lead designer Dan Teasdale talks about many of the improvements this title will have over the original. Many of these things are just the usual upgrades we would expect to see; it sounds as though they listened to people's gripes with the first game and are working to improve many of these aspects.
Even though there isn't a lot of information available, this title has already jumped onto my must-buy list, and I will continue to post all news regarding it, as it's released.
